Another Inishowen man

Postby tremone on Mon Dec 17, 2007 8:48 am

After reading John Seymour/ Hugh Fearnley Whittingstall etc and finally moving back to Donegal after nine years in a god awful satellite town in Kildare, I decided I wanted to become more self sufficientish(too chicken to give up the day job). Realising that I couldn't do everything at once, last year i set up the veg patch in probably one of the worst summers in a long time, joined the local organic group(http://iog.weebly.com) and in typical bizarre Inishowen fashion became it's chairman. I did a course with a local gardening guru Paddy McCartney and I was hooked. Realising I couldn't do everything at once(and remebering Seymour's saying:I am one man, I can only do what one man can) I came up with a 5 year plan, I'll post it up soon. Looking forward to interacting with you all.

NB. Ian lives in Buncrana in the west of Inishowen but i live on the east or better side of Inishowen

Hi Tremone!

Welcome. I wonder if Ian would agree with you about being in the "better part"!

Were not under much pressure here, which is the way I like it!!

I liked the joke by the way........

Hi Tremone!

Welcome.

Just because you get all of the best weather and trees that grow upright!!

This side of the peninsula has it's merits though as well..... I will let you know what they are when you have your five year plan!!

Paddy McCartney is my hero. I went to interview him for the gardening article. In ten minutes he gave me so much information, it lasted me for three weeks!

Here's a link :http://inishindie.blogspot.com/search?q=paddy+mccartney

Cheers

Ian

PS

I haven't forgotten about doing a bit for http://iog.weebly.com
