any feng shui tips?

Postby krystal maize on Mon Dec 03, 2007 12:38 pm

Here are few that I like!

Play loud music once a week.
This might not go down too well with the neighbours so make sure they are out first if your house is attached. In China the lunar New Year was celebrated loudly with drums, cymbals and firecrackers to wash away old energies and welcome in the new. Play loud, happy music. Ten minutes will be enough!

Never hang your washing out overnight.
Night energy is very Yin so leave your washing in the basket if it’s getting dark outside. The washing would soak up yin energy and upset your feng shui, and as we all know, that’s not a good thing to do!

Pointing the finger.

Pointing your finger at someone gives them negative energy, likewise if someone points a finger at you. Try not to point fingers at one another, or anything else sharp like scissors for that matter!

cheers.

more tips!

Postby Bobbo on Wed Dec 05, 2007 9:48 am

I have another few here from the bedroom.

I wanted to think of a few saucy ones to brighten up the morning but alas I have failed (well unless you think about the Third Party reflection!!)

There should be no mirrors opposite your bed or at the side of your bed. Mirrors opposite the bed can attract a third party to the relationship. Therefore, do not place mirrors anywhere you like and especially in your bedroom.

Get rid of the TV, computer or exercise equipment in your bedroom.

Open the windows often or use a good quality air-purifier to keep the air fresh and full of oxygen

I believe in some of it - because it makes good sense.

I never like to have sharp things pointing in my direction. Maybe that sounds a bit ocd, but it gives me a headache - apparently there is a name for people like me (idiots) who don't like pencils etc pointing towards them - it came up in a game of balderdash one time.

I agree with not having your back to the door if you are working your desk. I think this makes sense because it's rather unnerving to feel that you are busy working away (as I am doing now) and someone might be creeping up on you.

I'm on reception right now and I can see all 5 doors of the building, makes you feel in control!

Whereas upstairs my desk is in the middle of the room and I feel everyone is looking over my shoulder - most annoying!
The four seasons are salt, pepper, mustard and vinegar.

As it rapidly became a cash cow, I'm inclined to dismiss most of it, but some feng shui rules do have a point.

Keep the toilet seat down - stops the cat drinking from the bowl
Point sharp objects aways from you - being short sighted in one eye, I often walk into things on my "bad" side
Keep writing implements on your knowledge side (left), phone and address book on your communication side (right) - So you can write down messages whilst taking the call.

Dear All
There are several Feng Shui traditions throughout the east. There are two differing ones from China alone that I know of and probably more. But I suppose that sort of confusion spoils the fun. The tradition I like best is the Japanese one, which basically says that every situation and place has an energy. If you can respect that energy you are living in harmony. An example I would give is that one might decide to arrange your garden so that it went from very cultivated to very wild as you get further from the house - especially if you lived in a wild country area.

Strict rules for Feng Shui are a bit unnecessary they are only guidelines and always exist in context - a Westerly prevailing wind would give a different feel to a garden than one in a frost pocket. Both would need to be balanced out differently.

Also The balance of yin and yang exist on all levels and a garden is a part of this mixture – so whether one decides to go for a ‘no weeds lawn’ or one that tells a story in moss and daisies can depend on your location , social standing, or what level you chose to be organized say -strict geometrically or on the golden mean - or a bit of both.

The important thing is to be aware of the significance of what you are doing. Or you could have an obsessively manicured lawn but do not realize that you would prefer to be fishing - so another garden concept might suit you better.

Feng shui does matter –it was only after moving my septic tank down wind and away from my main view that my garden made sense to me . If you get that right the mirrors look after themselves. However it would have taken a lot of understanding to cover the imbalance of the septic tank if I had not had to move it.
