Is there any environmental advantage either in the upkeep or production of the composit decking as apposed the traditional timber decking?

Some companies heavily promote regular decking, but with maintenance in mind I have spoken with Oakland decking from magherafelt who install the composit decking.

Any ideas?

There are advantages to both types of deck. There was some legal stuff about the composit being maintenence free (see link) it's a bit American based but most is relevent
