Organic meeting

Postby tremone on Wed Jan 30, 2008 9:12 am

The monthly meeting of the Inishowen Organic Group takes place tomorrow night in McClures bar in Carndonagh(Bridge St) at 8pm. All are welcome to come along as we are actively seeking new members. We should have information about what courses are available for this year. Come along and see what it's all about.

Hi Noel

I wont be able to make it tomorrow unfortunately (I am off to the basket weaving class with Brendan Farren (I'll post the pictures when it's finished!)

Could you let us know about the courses and anything else that crops up at the meeting.

Does anyone like the idea of the community gardens scheme being run by the Organic Centre in Rossinver?

It's a great inititiave but unfortunately we live in Inishowen which suffers from a severe case of Myopia backed up with a dose of apathy. Like the Inishowen summer Gathering which everybody loves when it came to calling for volunteers only 3 showed up(and they were already on the comittee).
Apart from a few well meaning newbies(for want of a better word) who have had such a postive impact on Inishowen it would take a lot of workers to do on a consistent basis. I know I'm being negative but i can't help it i was born here, give it a few years and they'll wear you down with their paranoia & disapproving way of dealing with change. The only way it will work is if we secretly dress Ian up as the Virgin Mary on the site we want the community garden to be placed, there he would declare to some passing children that a garden should be placed on the spot, you'd have them out in droves, anything to build up the Heaven credits.
As an aside I have just completed a basket weaving course with Brendan where I completed my first basket(with handle). We did it over a weekend and it was satisfying work akthough it can get a bit confusing with all the different types of weaves. Is that the VEC course as i have seen that advertised

Rgds,
I will not give my name as the local branch of Opus Dei will be out to get me now-we call them the Legion of Mary

Gareth,
You would be more than welcome, it is a group for Inishowen. If you joined you could give us a talk on gardening techniques.

Noel,

Post and let us know when the next meeting is and I'll come along for sure.

Ian would be a far better speaker than me....I'm too shy!

Cheers
